31 Jan Days 137 to 141 On the Ball at Fort Myers Beach.
The first time I came to Fort Myers beach back in 1990ish, I drove over the Matanzas Pass Bridge and looked south to see the mooring field. I thought how cool would that be. Since then, staying on the mooring ball has been on my boat bucket list.
Check! As is usually true, the reality isn’t quite as glamourous as the dream. The moorings are first come, first served. Only two left when we arrived, so we ended up on #68 of 70. It is a long way to the office and showers…… too far to be usable but, at only $18 a day, what do you expect. There is a considerable current here that switches with the tides. A mooring ball adds a nice sense of security when you go to sleep. The biggest plus is that you get a sticker to use the dinghy docks.
Fort Myers Beach is a fun place to hang out. There are lots of Bars and patio restaurants.
Most with Happy Hours.
There is a huge beach to get your steps in.
Since the beach looks west, it is a spectacular spot to watch the Sun set.
Almost as nice from the Flybridge.
All those years ago, I thought it would be fun to hang out on a mooring ball in Fort Myers Beach mooring field. I was right!
