Days 135 and 136 The Birthweekend

Our productive week in Fort Myers ended with Janet’s Birthday. We were planning on leaving on Sunday so Saturday was spent cleaning, provisioning and doing laundry. Not a very fun Birthday.
To make up for it we went out with our Marina friends Anne and Randy for a night “On the Town”. Anne and Randy are locals who live just outside of Fort Myers but keep their boat at FMYB. They are also future Loopers, they just don’t know it yet.
We started with a few coctails at the rooftop bar at Hotel Indigo.

It had a great view of downtown. The bartender was awesome and even bought the Birthday Girl her first drink.
It was recommended by other Loopers that we try Bruno’s of Brooklyn for dinner, but we would prpbably need a reservation. Randy suggested that we just show up and try to get in. By chance we were told only a 10 minute wait for a seat, but we would have to sit at the bar.
Another piece of good luck for us. The bar seats were actually sitting in front of the Open Kitchen and we got to watch the Chef at work. He was amazing, he had a huge gas stove roaring with about 8 different dinners on the go, flames shooting up every now and then when he added ingredients. He never seemed to stir or time anything, then they would plate a whole tables worth of dinners and serve them all together.
I can’t get eggs and toast to time out like that.

Here is Chef Bruno congratulating the Birthday Girl. I think she had fun.

After that we had just enough energy for a nightcap at 10 Twenty Five, but since we have not been 25 for a few decades, we did not stay late.

The next day we were supposed to leave and head toward Fort Myers Beach. But the morning was grey and not really beach weather so when we heard that there was a car show in town we decided to stay another day.
Car show selfie!

No shortage of Mustangs here.

There were a lot of people, it took quite a while to get this shot without someone walking in front of the camera.
Where there is a lot of people, there is bound to be a few …

Jansez, take one with the Palm trees in the reflection…

I liked the Rat Rods. This one made a statement.

Had I planned ahead a little better, I would have gotten her to wear red.

I hope she had a good Birthweekend! I did.
