08 Oct Day 24 – South Haven work day
No pictures today. Just a quick note to keep us all up to date. It’s Oct 7th 2019.
West winds today kept us in South Haven. It was a work day for us. Janet finished two new hatch covers for Nautoncall. I installed a new anchor light and flybridge floor lighting. Another couple of items off of my boat to-do List.
The evening was spent with the Watsons, Renee and Pierre planning out our next few days to Chicago and how we are going to proceed down the Illinois River system. Because of the delays on the Illinois River locks the AGLCA has come up with a plan to have us head downstream in groups to make it easier for the Lock-masters to get us through their locks. We are not really sure how it is going to play out but we have opted to be in the group that leaves Lake Michigan as soon as they announce the opening of the Locks. Probably the 13 of Oct.
So for now the plan is to head to Michigan City Indiana tomorrow and possibly cross to Chicago Wednesday. Then wait there until we get the go ahead to continue down the river. We are all a little nervous about heading into the river system and dealing with a the commercial boat traffic and big locks, but we are also grateful to get off Lake Michigan before it gets too hairy.
Wish us luck!
